Ms. Vergia Lena Smith, 92, of Symsonia, died on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City. Born Monday, Feb. 16, 1925, in Marshall County, she was a Ward Clerk for Western Baptist Hospital. She attended Oak Level Church of Christ.
Ms. Smith is survived by several generations of nieces and nephews.
Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her brothers, Titus Horace Smith and Cecil Hall Smith, sisters, Rose Smith Copeland and Eugenia Smith Barnes and her companion of 60-plus years Leonard Bell. Her parents were the late Titus Hall and Ella (Starks) Smith
Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017, at New Sand Hill Cemetery with the Mike Fields officiating. Burial is to follow the services.
There will be no public viewing.
