Marshall County High School has hired Mallory (Young) Newton as the new Head Softball Coach. She will assume the duties of head coach on January 1, 2018. Coach Newton has spent the last four years playing for the Murray State Racers Softball team.
She has also been coaching on the national softball circuit with the Kentucky Magic softball team. Coach Newton has helped send 13 players on to college softball careers including five to the D1 level.
Mallory was a standout player for the Marshall County High School softball team graduating in 2013.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to hire Coach Newton to lead our softball program,” stated Mike Johnson, Athletic Director. “She is a great young coach and we are excited to have the former Lady Marshal back home.”
Mallory takes over the head coaching duties from Trent Lovett who stepped down after two years as the Lady Marshals head coach, leading them to a record of 44-28 over that period, a 4th District Championship in 2016 and two 1st Region Tournament Championship game appearances.
