Kentucky State Police posts have begun charging for a popular public service.

According to a KSP news release, posts have implemented a $10 fee for all fingerprint impressions taken when requested by a resident for professional, trade or commercial purposes. The fee, set forth by KRS 16.068, also applies to fingerprints taken for personal use.

The fee became effective Saturday, July 1, at the start of the 2017-18 fiscal year.

According to the release, residents who need fingerprints should bring their own cards to ensure one is available. KSP posts will accept checks or money orders made payable to “Kentucky State Treasurer.”

KSP Post 1 will provide this service from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays at the post at 8366 Highway 45 N. in Hickory.

Anyone wanting to have fingerprint impressions taken outside the normal hours should schedule an appointment by calling 270-856-3721.
