Deputies report to vehicle vs. residence, intoxication calls

Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy Steven Oakley responded at 4:50 p.m. Thursday to a report of a truck striking a residence. According to his report, a vehicle was parked in a lot at integrity feed in Hardin. The vehicle’s brake did not hold, and the truck rolled across Commerce Street and struck a vehicle. The truck then struck a residence on Commerce Street. There were no reported injuries, but there was a woman and her children in the home at the time.

Deputy Dan Melone responded to a disturbance at 2:26 a.m. Friday on Lee Burd Road. Melone reportedly discovered that a possibly intoxicated female had left the scene prior to officers’ arrival. Melissa Smith, 46, of Benton, was found nearby passed out in a ditch. Smith was charged with alcohol intoxication and lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
