Marshall County Little League Basketball announced the election of its new board of directors Thursday along with the hiring of new Marshall County High School boys’ basketball assistant coach Lyndon Dunning as executive director.

Dunning, who previously managed the Graves County recreational basketball league, will oversee daily operation of the MCLLB program with support from the new board, which includes Kevin Hunt as president, Kayla Kauffman as vice president and treasurer, Donnie Youngblood as secretary, Johnathan Beard as competition coordinator, James Turner as cheerleading liaison and Dave Washburn as immediate past president and publicity coordinator.

“We are excited to see Marshall County basketball enter a new era,” Washburn said. “We’ve worked hard the last two seasons to modernize how the little league program operates as a feeder system for the middle schools and ultimately the high school while simultaneously increasing participation and notoriety. The new board is poised to accelerate the league’s growth by directly linking it to Marshall County High School basketball with the hiring of Lyndon Dunning. Lyndon is an extraordinary talent backed by an accomplished board of directors that are each incredibly capable in their own right.”

In addition to Dunning’s oversight, new MCHS boys’ basketball head coach Terry Birdsong and new MCHS girls’ basketball head coach Martin Clapp will be directly involved with MCLLB planning to ensure a strong developmental pipeline of players and fans.

“A strong little league program is essential to our success,” Birdsong said. “Having Lyndon manage the program with expert assistance and community support from the board will ensure that we have players developing the fundamental skills for success while also growing our fan base. Martin and I look to generate a lot of excitement around Marshall County basketball at every level in the coming years.”

Shane Cosby, who most recently served a two-year term as secretary and treasurer, retired from the board along with member-at-large Sean Harris.
