Calvert City woman, Paducah man arrested on drug charges after traffic stop

A Calvert City woman and Paducah man were jailed Monday after a traffic stop yielded suspected methamphetamine.

According to a McCracken County Sheriff’s Office release, Christy D. Hiett, 44, of Calvert City, and Joe E. Hiett, 46, of Paducah, were taken into custody after a deputies initiated a traffic stop about 12:26 a.m. today on John Puryear Drive. Christy Hiett was pulled over for traffic violations, according to MCSO, and during the course of the stop deputies determined the passenger – Joe Hiett – was giving false identifying information.

“He gave deputies multiple social security numbers and names, which on of the social security numbers came back to a person in the central part of the state,” the release states. “His real identity was quickly learned, and it was determined he had an outstanding arrest warrant out of McCracken County District Court.”

Further investigation reportedly revealed suspected methamphetamine in the vehicle during a consented search. Deputies discovered at that time that Christy Hiett had outstanding warrants in both Marshall and McCracken counties.

Joe Hiett was arrested on suspicion of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, giving an officer false identifying information, theft of identity of another without consent, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle and failure to appear in McCracken County District Court.

Christy Hiett was arrested on suspicion of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, rear license plate not illuminated, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, warrant for contempt of court in McCracken County Circuit Court and failure to appear in Marshall County Circuit Court.

Both were taken to McCracken County Jail.
