Graveside services for Martha Dian Powell, 69, of Grand Rivers, were held Thursday, June 15 at Dixon Cemetery. Celebration of Life services were held at Grand Rivers Baptist Church prior to burial. Bro. Rodney Cude officiated.
Ms. Powell died on June 13, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Denzil and Priscilla Lowery on July 12, 1947. She was the widow of Charles W. Powell, they were married 47 years. Alongside her parents and husband was her sister Barbara and her husband Richard Body and nephew Jared Lowery awaiting her arrival in Heaven.
Saddened but rejoicing in her gain of Heaven are:
Sister Marjorie Welch and husband Dean who reside in St. George Utah. Brother Philip Lowery and wife Madlyn who reside in Roscoe Illinois. Brother Dale and wife Carolyn who reside in Bluford Illinois. Denzil Jr. and his wife Linda whom reside in Mt. Vernon Illinois. Dian also enjoyed many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Her only child, Machelle Gary and husband Bill and their two younger daughters Isabelle and Elliott reside in Grand Rivers Kentucky.
Granddaughter Laci Beasley and husband Jeremy and their two children Rowdy and Baylee reside in Herrin Illinois.
Grandson Nicholas McLaughlin and wife Kaelynne and their son Charlie reside in Pinckneyville Illinois.
Grandson Daniel Mclaughlin and his wife Katherine reside in Sycamore Illinois.
It didn’t matter if family related, most knew Dian by Granny. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. There was always a place at the dinner table and in her heart for those that crossed her path. She loved her family with the fiercest of love and that love was easily reciprocated.
