Mr. Rollan Charles “R.C.” Tapp, 86 of Benton, died on Sunday, May 21, 2017, at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah. He was a 50-year electrician with the IBEW 1925 out of Martin, TN. He retired from the VMV Railroad Rebuild Shop in Paducah. He was also a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.
Born Monday, Feb. 2, 1931 in McCracken County. He was the son of the late Roland Anderson Tapp and the late Manila (Bagwell) Tapp.
He is survived by his wife, Christine (Manning) Tapp of Benton; sons, Gary Charles Tapp, wife Kim of Benton, Jeffery Michael Tapp of Calvert City; daughter, Carolyn Sue Dowdy of Benton and Randy Allen Tapp of Benton; sister, Dorothy Myrick of Benton Harbor, Mich.; grandchildren, Nickolas, Nathan, Justin, Jacob, Levi, Heather, Chad, Zachary and Brandon; and great-grandchildren, Nash, Baylor, Allena, Kaiser, Ethan, Griffin and Emma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hugh Tapp and Darwin Tapp; and sister, Antha Mae Turner.
A Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Collier Funeral Chapel with Rev. Randy McClure officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairdealing Cemetery in Benton.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Collier Funeral Home.
