A Crittenden County escaped inmate was apprehended Monday in Benton after police received a tip he might be staying at a local hotel.
According to Benton Police reports, Brandon Brasher, 31, of Princeton, was arrested and charged with second-degree escape. Marshall County Dispatch received reports that Brasher and a girlfriend were staying at the Benton Inn. Further investigation revealed the couple had left the motel walking north.
BPD officers, Marshall County Sheriff’s deputies and Kentucky State Police troopers drove the area searching for Brasher. BPD Chief Tracy Watwood, reportedly discovered a woman and a man who matched Brasher’s description standing outside the Benton Pizza Hut. Watwood, who was off duty at the time, remained on scene to watch the suspect until fellow officers arrived.
BPD officer Caleb Curtner arrived and also located the couple as they walked around to the back side of the business. Curtner recognized Brasher and arrested him without further incident, according to BPD reports.
Brasher had been on the lam since Saturday, when he reportedly walked away from Crittenden County Jail. He was serving time on receiving stolen property and burglary, according to previous KSP reports.
