MURRAY – Marshall County’s track season officially began last Saturday at the West Region Indoor Invitational at Murray State’s CFSB Center. This is the first of two indoor meets the team will compete in, the second one is March 3-4 at SIU in Carbondale. They will open the outdoor season on March 14th with the Marshall County All-Comers Meet.
The boy’s team is the defending Region 1 Class 3A Champions with seven placing in the top 15 at the 2016 KHSAA State Track and Field Championships while the girl’s team placed three in the top 15 at state.
Top results from the boys Saturday came from Jackson Brown who took 1st in the 55 meter hurdles, Tanner Clough 4th and Will McGee 7th in the 55 meter dash, Joseph Reed placed 4th in the 400 meters, Garrett Fulgham 4th in the 800 meters and Austin Clark 4th in shot put.
Top girls results came from Jordyn Ray who placed 5th in the 1600 meters and 6th in the 800 meters and in the shot put, Kirsten Walker placed 3rd and Emily Colley 6th.
