DRAFFENVILLE – The Lady Marshals gutted it out for four quarters against Christian County to pick up their 19th win of the season, led by Hannah Langhi with 19 points and 13 rebounds and 17 points from Miyah Davis.

An early 4-1 Lady Marshal lead was wiped out quickly by Christian County who went on a 12-4 run to finish out the first quarter with a 13-8 lead.
Tovah Wadlington’s basket to open the second quarter put the Lady Colonels up by seven before the Lady Marshals 6-0 run fueled on baskets by Langhi, Davis and Chloe Kerrick cut the Christian County lead to 15-14.
Both Langhi and Davis turned made baskets and fouls into three point plays twice, for 12 points between the two players to put the Lady Marshals up 26-23 at halftime.
The Lady Marshals would extend their lead out to eight in the third quarter but would end the quarter up by three again at 35-32, both teams with nine points in the quarter. Colson scored four for the Lady Marshals, Langhi added three and two from Davis while Christian County’s scoring from Trinitee Jackson with four, two points each by Aaliyah Hampton and Laderia Gold and one from Shakia McGregory.
Gold hit a three to tie the game 35-35 to open the fourth quarter followed by a basket by Kinara Phillips to give the Lady Colonels the lead for the first time since the second quarter. A basket by Lorin Powell tied the game again at 37 each with the lead swinging back to Christian County again on a basket by Phillips.
Hampton scored to give Christian County a 4-point lead with 3:45 left in the game that was cut to one on a 3-pointer by Davis. Hampton again for the Lady Colonels put them back up by two with 1:54 to go but momentum would swing to the Lady Marshals when Powell was fouled by Jackson who left the game with her 5th followed by a technical on Wadlington. That sent Powell to the line where she made one, followed by the technical free throws by Davis who also made one to tie the game 42-42.
In the closing minute, a free throw by Langhi put the Lady Marshals up by one and with 18 seconds to go, Langhi forced a jump ball with the possession arrow in favor of the Lady Marshals and Davis was fouled with 14 seconds left making the first for a 44-42 lead. A Christian County miss was rebounded by Langhi who was fouled with 2.6 seconds on the clock, making one of her free throws to put them up by three with the game ending on a long three attempt by Hampton at the buzzer that missed.
“It wasn’t pretty, but we’ll take the win”, Head Coach Joseph Simmons said. “You have to give credit to our girls for finding a way. That’s been the theme it seems like all season.”
