Lady Marshals sweep in Gunner’s Magic Train Shootout

DRAFFENVILLE – The 8th Annual Gunner’s Magic Train Shootout was held Friday and Saturday at Marshall County High School. In the second game on Friday, the Lady Marshals played McCracken County, beating the Lady Mustangs 44-16.

Leading 15-0 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Marshals went on to hold the Lady Mustangs to just two first half points to lead 35-2. McCracken County’s only basket came from Jalyn Warren after the Lady Marshals had amassed a 31-0 lead.

The scoring slowed down in the second half with a running clock while all six of the Lady Marshals third quarter points came on two 3-pointers by Miyah Davis who had five in the game to lead all scorers with 20 points. The Lady Marshals led 41-6 at the end of the third quarter, finishing out the game with three more points while McCracken County added 10 in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Marshals followed their 28 point win over McCracken County with a 34 point win over Hopkins County Central on Saturday in the final game of the Gunner’s Magic Train Shootout.

Langhi led the Lady Marshals with nine of their 14 first quarter on their way to a 14-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and they scored 25 second quarter points, holding the Lady Storm to just two points for a 39-10 lead at halftime. Langhi finished the first half with 23 of her 29 points in the game.

Davis opened the second half with a Lady Marshal 3-pointer, hitting her third in the game just moments later for a 46-11 lead which led to a running clock the remainder of the game. The lead stretched to 58-19 at the end of the third quarter with one more point added to the total in the fourth quarter on a free throw by Emily Bridges.

Two Hopkins County Central players combined for 20 points, 10 each scored by Talana Hardy and Keke Ikeard. The Lady Storm turned the ball over 23 times which the Lady Marshals converted into 24 points.

The Lady Marshals will play Christian County on Tuesday at home in the second game of a double-header with the Marshals who play Lyon County at 6:00.
