UPDATE: William Morgan passed away at Vanderbilt Medical Center Wednesday evening. Collier Funeral Home is handling his arrangements.
At approximately 11:30 this morning, deputies were dispatched to US 641 North near Kentuckiana Marine Sales for a single vehicle injury accident. A red 2004 Chevy Pickup, driven by Chris Stamper, 61, of Calvert City, was traveling southbound on US 641 N when a deer ran into his path. Stamper collided with the deer, causing severe damage to the vehicle. Stamper was uninjured. Stamper’s passenger, William Morgan, 51, of Benton, was treated at the scene by Marshall County EMS personnel and later flown by AIR EVAC to Vanderbilt Medical Center. The Sheriff’s office was assisted by, KY State Police, Marshall County EMS, Gilbertsville Fire Department, and Air Evac ambulance. The accident remains under investigation. Alcohol is not suspected in the accident.
