Della Lee Smith, 88, of Possum Trot, Kentucky, is now absent from the body and present with the Lord. God came at 10:00AM on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 to Evangelical Home in Sterling Heights, Michigan and said Della let’s go. Della was ready.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Floyd E Smith of Possum Trot and two daughters who were stillborn. Della was the eighth of eleven children born to Sam and Nellie Griggs Barrett also of Possum Trot, on January 25, 1928.
Della is survived by daughters, Yolanda Hensley and her husband Gary of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; Bonnie Ploss and her husband George of Shelby Township, Michigan and Wanda Mathis and her husband David of Melber, Kentucky. Della had eight grandchildren, Bryan Pike, Paul Scoggins, Kelly Hudson, Kari Paramore, Shannon Young, Barbara Blackson, Aaron Ploss and Michelle Luwpas, fourteen great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren, two sisters, Marie Driskill of Benton, Kentucky and Betty Karnes of Benton, Kentucky and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Della was a member of Altona Baptist Church of Calvert City, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday December 28, 2016 at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home. Rev. Roger Rice will officiate and Della will be laid to rest at Fooks Cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00PM Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home.
