Mr. Edison Franklin Burkeen, age 91 of Hardin, KY passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN.
Born Tuesday, May 26, 1925 in Marshall Co., KY, he was the son of the late Rufe Phillips Burkeen, Sr., and the late Winnie (Lovett) Burkeen. He was retired from Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 184 where he was a member for 54 years, he was a 69 year member of the Hardin-Alford Masonic Lodge 925. He was a member of Unity Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his son, Dennis Franklin Burkeen, wife Shirley of Hardin, KY, brothers, Rufe Phillips Burkeen, Jr., “Bill Burkeen”, wife Mary Lee of Dexter, KY and James Ronald Burkeen, wife Bonnie of Murray, KY, one grandson, Cory Burkeen, wife Kristin of Fairview, TN, three great-grandchildren, Teagan Burkeen, Brison Burkeen, and Gunner Burkeen all of Fairview, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 70 years, Thelma Johnson Burkeen to whom he was married on September 25, 1943, and one sister, Barbara Ann Canup.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Unity Cemetery, Hardin, KY. Rev. Brian Hayes will officiate. Interment will follow the service.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, KY.
Masonic rites will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY. The public is invited to attend.
