Mrs. Carmen Lee Hughes, age 74 of Gilbertsville, KY passed away Monday, September 26, 2016, at her home in Gilbertsville, KY. She was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters during her years in Alaska, and while living in Englewood, OH, she worked as a Century 21 Agent. Born Friday, July 3, 1942 in Marion, IL, she was the daughter of the late Henry K. Borba and the late Cecilia Mae (Hall) Borba. Surviving are her husband, Billy C. Hughes of Gilbertsville, KY, sons, Ronald Owsley of Fairbanks, AK, Charles M. Hughes of Abilene, TX and Jason W. Hughes of Abilene, TX, daughters, Lisa Speckels of Kasolif, AK, Kelly L. Hughes of Abilene, TX, and Jettone Beasley of Charleston, WV, two sisters, Maryellen Hansen of Novato, CA, Suzanne Dean of Novato, CA, and one brother, Tom Borba of Milton Falls, OR, her sister-in-law, Carolyn Borba of Madisonville, KY, 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Richard Borba. A Funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025 with Rev. Dr. Charles Frazier officiating. Visitation will be held between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Collier Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 3, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Tankersley Funeral Home, 807 South Columbia, Stamford, TX, Bro. Jeff Hatcher officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Spring Creek Cemetery, Stamford, TX. Friends may visit at the Tankersley Funeral Home between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 3, 2016. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Zion's Cause Baptist Church, 1532 U.S. Hwy 68 West, Benton, KY 42025.
