BENTON – Wendy Greer has been named Marshall County Road Department Superintendent and will assume the Superintendent duties effective July 1st replacing Russell York who is retiring. York is retiring after 37 years with the department, five of those as Superintendent.
Roy Wadkins will become Road Department Supervisor effective July 1st, replacing Frankie Sledd who is also retiring. Roy is a 16-year employee of the department.
Judge/Executive Kevin Neal said they received nine quality applicants from within the Road Department for the two positions.
Greer has worked for the Road Department for 26 years. She started at the age of 15 working summer programs through high school and hired full time following high school. After taking night classes, Greer converted everything they were doing in the department by hand at that time, over to the computer.
“Its going to be a big transition for me”, Greer said. “I’m used to being in the office but after I get someone trained to be in there the transition will be a lot easier.”
