Roy Denial

ObitMr. Roy Denial, age 94, passed away at his residence on January 2, 2016. A native of Detroit, Roy was an experienced public affairs consultant, author and copy writer. He spent three years active duty in Europe during World War II. He served with the infantry as writer of military subjects and gunner. Denial was awarded the Purple and Bronze Star for his war efforts. Roy was married to Mildred LaVerne Ross on August 23, 1943. They were married for 63 years, having lived in Detroit, Westland, and Canton, Michigan. They enjoyed retirement together in Benton, Kentucky.

Roy is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Marsha Cain of Allegan, Michigan, and his son, Mr. Eric Denial of South Gate, California. His grandchildren include Mrs. Laura Triumph of Kalamazoo, Mrs. Emily Lowry of Thompson’s Station, Tennessee, Mrs. Elizabeth Campbell of Smyrna, Tennessee, Mrs. Leah Helms of Camden, Tennessee and
Major David Denial (USMC.). Roy’s great-grandchildren include Joy, Favor and Radiance Triumph, Olivia and Madelyn Lowry and Kurtis Lohman. Roy was active at Calvary Bible Church of Kalamazoo.

A memorial service to celebrate Roy’s life was held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 3:30 PM at Calvary Bible Church, 855 S. Drake Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49009, with Pastor John Barnett officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday June 19, 2016 at Provine Cemetery with Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Burial with military honors are to follow.
