Lucy Harper

harper obit photoLucy Inez Harper born July 26th 1932, died Tuesday, May 24th at her home. 
Visitation will be on Thursday May 26th from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Collier Funeral Home
of Benton, Services will be held on Friday, May 27th at 11:00 AM at Collier Funeral
Home, with graveside services at Calvert City Cemetery.
Born and raised “Between the Rivers” Inez was proud of her home place and enjoyed
visiting the places of her childhood and where she began her family, with her
husband R.B. .  After leaving their Home at Cravens Creek she and R.B established a
new home in Calvert City.  She became a longtime resident of Calvert City and had
many friends and neighbors of which she was always happy to see when they came to
visit.  R.B and Inez were married 49 years and they enjoyed their family, a good
card game, and even hunting together.  Inez was a knitter and enjoyed knitting baby
blankets for her grandchildren.  She always had a twinkle in her eye, a sharp sense
of humor, and was known to have killed a rattlesnake or two.  She enjoyed a laugh
with company, loved her canine companion Mrs. Scarlet, reading Louis L’Amour books
and appreciated classic John Wayne movies like no other.
Inez is survived by a son, Roger Harper and his wife Debbie of Benton KY; Three
daughters, Jenny Driskill and her husband Sonny of Grand Rivers KY, Peggy Brogdon
and her husband Larry of Madisonville KY and D’Che Harper-Beyer (her granddaughter
that she and R.B. raised as their own) and her husband Chad of Benton KY.  As well
as seven grandchildren, Charlie Driskill, Carla Driskill, D’Che Harper-Beyer, Trey
Brogdon, Blake Brogdon, Michelle Owens, and Tammi James; eighteen great
grandchildren , two great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her mother Reba Jones Stone, her father Fred Stone,
her brothers Oscar Norman Stone and James Hershel Stone, her daughter Judy Carol
Harper and her husband R.B. Harper.

Inez’s legacy is a legacy of Love, love of place, love of family, and love of
Christ… a legacy that will be carried on by those she shared her love with.
