BENTON, KY – The Marshall County Public Library will be hosting two programs focusing on bees on Saturday, April 30.
“Bees are fascinating animals,” says Beth Kerrick, Children’s Librarian. “During the summer months they literally work themselves to death in a matter of about six weeks and are responsible for pollinating approximately 70% of our crops. Our programs are going to take a closer look at bees and the impact they have on our community, from how they keep our ecosystem balanced to the pain they inflict on bare toes.”
Pre-school and early elementary aged children are invited to attend the special Saturday Story Hour where Kentucky author Eddie Price will present his book Little Miss Grubby Toes Steps On A Bee! Price will be joined by some local bee keepers for the second program, which will focus on the importance of bees in our community and be open to all ages.
Kerrick says the library is excited to have Price join them for the day. “Eddie Price has written several books and presents at schools and conferences across the state. He’s a former teacher who knows how to get kids excited about learning.”
