Conrad sentenced in Reidland murder case

Jeffrey Conrad has been sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in prison after the jury returned a guilty verdict on a lesser charge of 2nd degree manslaughter.

Conrad will be eligible for parole after serving 20 percent of that sentence, minus time already served.

Conrad was accused of murdering Garland Casey Cox outside of a storage facility in Reidland in June of 2015, while attorneys for Conrad argued that the shooting was in self defense and that Cox was under the influence of drugs.

Formal sentencing is set for May 6, in McCracken Circuit Court with Judge Tim Kaltenbach.
