David Leon Koon, age 80 of Benton, KY died at Lourdes Hospital at 9:15 pm on Thursday,
March 17, 2016. He was a member of Union Ridge Baptist Church in Aurora, KY. He
retired from Vulcan Materials Quarry after a career of 50 years.
He was preceded in death by father David H. Koon, and mother Macie (Boone) Koon;
brother, Earl Koon, and sister Charlene Hammons.
Survivors are his wife, Irene (Kirk) Koon of Benton, KY, his daughter, Leah Lummus
and her husband Tyson Lummus, of Grand Rivers, KY and his son, Mike Koon and his
wife Reita Koon of Tiline, KY.
Other survivors include his grandchildren: Brad and Stephanie Henson of Smithland,
KY, David M. and Stephanie Koon of Tiline, KY, Wesley and Sherina Lummus of Grand
Rivers, KY and Josh Lummus of Grand Rivers, KY.
Great grandchildren include, Tristin Arflack, Emilee Arflack, Dathan Terrell, Bradon
Henson, Jackson Henson, and Tanleigh Lummus. Surviving siblings are Annie Campbell,
Ester Anderson, Ilene Oliver, and Marlene Jones. In-Laws were Golden and Virginia
Kirk, Donna Rudolph, Lerlene Coplen, Lorlene Tubbs, and multiple nieces and nephews
also survive.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of
the Collier Funeral Home, Bro. Brad Henson and Bro. George Culp officiating.
Interment will follow in the Union Ridge Cemetery, Aurora, KY.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday,
March 20, 2016 at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th St., Benton, KY 42025.
