Treating veterinary patients has always been done in one of two ways, the first being medicine, and the second being surgery. In recent years, both human and veterinary medicine have added other ways of treating the body. One of these advancements, which I am using in my practice, is Laser Therapy. It is a non-invasive and highly effective way to treat inflammation and decrease pain. Pets with wounds, allergies, or arthritis can all be treated with Laser Therapy.

Laser Therapy destroys inflammatory mediators at the cellular level. It is deep penetrating and can be used for hips, knees and other joints. Conversely, it can be adjusted for use on skin and wounds. It enables the body to heal faster with less pain. All of my surgical patients receive laser treatment as a part of pain management.

Laser therapy does not require sedation, and in most cases, doesn’t even require restraint. Pets feel no pain during treatment. In my experience, most patients find laser therapy relaxing, even falling asleep during administration.
