In just their second season at Marshall County High School, the Archery Team is enjoying a successful season with five competitions complete and three more to go including this weekend’s Marshall County Bull’s-eye Blowout, the KHSAA Region 1 Tournament on March 12th at the Henderson County Archery Facility and finally the Kentucky NASP State Tournament at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville on March 21st and 22nd.
The team opened their season December 11-12 at the Trigg County Winter Warm-Up, placing 3rd among eight teams. Trigg County took 1st and Hopkins County Central placed 2nd. Archery is in its 5th season in Kentucky and Trigg County has won all four previous state titles and look to be on track to win a 5th consecutive state title this year.
Twenty-one Marshall County archers competed at Trigg County with the top five results coming from Dalton Anderson with a score of 293, placing him 3rd of 120 boy’s high school competitors. Kennedy Parker scored 287, good for 5th among 104 girls in the high school competition. Jacob Hastings score of 285 placed 12th, Chris Shoulders scored 283 for 15th and Brooklyn Givens with the Marshals 5th best score of 281 for 16th among girls.
December 15th, 23 team members competed in the Reindeer Games at Murray High School, placing 4th. Trigg County took 1st, Graves County 2nd, Murray 3rd and Calloway County took 5th. Top five Marshall County results came from Cody Hicks with 285 placing 9th out of 62, Kennedy Parker scored 283 for 5th out of 54, Hayden Eubanks with 278 was 10th, Dalton Anderson scored 278 placing 14th and Chris Shoulders was 20th with 276.
The team’s first of two second place finishes came on January 30th at Graves County’s New Year’s Tournament. Trigg County took the top spot and Graves County placed third in the 8-team meet. Hayden Eubanks recorded the best finish among the 20 Marshall competitors, scoring 287 for 6th place out of 60 girls while Dalton Anderson scored 283 for 9th of 72 boys, Tyler Elfrank placed 13th with 279, Emelia Andersson placed 15th with 277, Chris Shoulders placed 17th with 275 and Kennedy Parker placed 17th with 275.
Trigg County took first again at the NASP (National Archery Schools Program) Region 1 Tournament at Graves County February 12-13. The Marshals placed 4th behind Graves County in 2nd and Murray 3rd. Tyler Elfrank posted Marshall County’s top score of 282 placing him 9th out of 65. The next four top-scoring Marshals were Hayden Eubanks with 279 placing 8th out of 57, Kennedy Parker was 11th with 277, Daniel Bryant 17th with 277 and Cody Hicks scored 268 for 24th.
Saturday at the Cupid Classic at Murray High School, the Marshals captured 2nd place behind Trigg County. Graves County was 3rd, Murray 4th and Calloway County 5th. Kennedy Parker led the Marshall team with 291 placing her 1st out of 53 girls, Daniel Bryant’s score of 283 placed him 5th among 65 boys, Dalton Anderson took 7th with 280, Hayden Eubanks 8th with 279 and Amelia Andersson was 9th with 278.
