Rev. John Thomas Sheppard, age 73 of Farmington, KY passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY.
Born Tuesday, November 24, 1942 in Dearborn, MI, he was the son of the late Arlie James Sheppard and the late Dula (Richardson) Sheppard Wilson also his step-father, the late Smith Wilson.
Bro. Sheppard was currently serving as the Interim Pastor at Union Ridge Baptist Church in Aurora, KY. He devoted his life to the work of the Church, serving in the ministry for 56 years. Bro. Sheppard earned his certificate in Christian Ministry from Mid-Continent Baptist Bible College in Mayfield, KY.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Phyllis A. (Harmon) Sheppard, one son, Jeffrey Sheppard of Farmington, KY, one daughter, Debra Manley, husband Bobby of Bardwell, KY, one sister, Sarah McClure, husband David of Benton, KY, three grandchildren; Sasha Sheppard of Benton, KY, Shea Sheppard of Benton, KY, and Caitlin Manley of
Bardwell, KY. Two nieces, Tambra Sheridan and Kim Smith, one nephew, Mitch Green also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and step-father, also by one brother, Edward Wayne Sheppard.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY. Rev. Brad White will officiate. Interment will follow the service in the Union Ridge Cemetery, Aurora, KY.
Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 5:00 p.m and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2016, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, KY.
