Edmon Dale Copeland, age 80 of Benton, KY died on Monday, January 4, 2016, at Marshall Co. Hospital in Benton, Kentucky. He was born into sawmilling, and he operated it with his dad until his dad got disabled. He and his wife ran it until he had a stroke. He went to college at Murray. He worked as a milwright, baled hay, farmed some, but he liked the sawmill best. It was behind his house so he walked to work.
Mr. Copeland was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church where he was a deacon and Sunday School Superintendent and teacher.
Born Friday, September 20, 1935 in Marshall Co., KY, he was the son of the late Robert E. Copeland and the late Rhoda (York) Copeland.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Ruth (Pierce) Copeland of Benton, KY; son, Bobby Copeland (Valerie) of Murray, KY; and grandchild, Cassidy Copeland of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY. Bro. Richie Slack and Roger Pierce officiating.
Interment will follow in New Harmony Cemetery, Benton, KY.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2015 at Collier Funeral Home.
