KKK propoganda brochures found in Marshall County yards

KKK

Numerous Marshall County residents woke up Sunday morning to find fliers in their driveway’s and yards that are purportedly from ‘The Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.’

The P.O. Box features a Pelham, NC address and the ‘Hot Line’ directs callers to a recorded message that states, “This December 24, Christmas Eve, marks 150 years the Klan have been here protecting the rights of white Christian Americans.”

As the call ends, the recording gives you an option to give your name and number so a local recruiter can contact you about joining a local chapter.

The rest of the flier provides information on the history of the Ku Klux Klan, as well as what they stand for and their future goals.

The only crime that may have been committed, however, is littering since the text on the flier does not offer a specific threat of hate or violence.

Therefore, it would be protected under the 1st Amendment of the United States Constitution.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office has since released the following statement: “We would like everyone to know that we take this and all complaints to our office seriously. We have instructed our officers to give extra patrol to the areas affected and to observe for this type of activity. We appreciate the community’s assistance in this matter.”
