Gunn signs with Lipscomb University to run Track and Cross Country

BENTON – Collin Gunn signed his National Letter of Intent Friday to compete in Track and Cross Country for Lipscomb University in Nashville, a Division I program in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

collin gunnCollin’s coaches say he is the type of athlete that has talent, but combines it with a tireless work ethic in order to succeed. This spring he will captain the boy’s track and field team and will be a staple in middle distance events such as the 1600 and 800 meters.

He has achieved many successes over the span of his high school career which include Regional Champion in the 1600 meters, part of the Regional Champion 4 x 800 relay team that took third at state and an integral part of the 2015 1st Region Championship team.

Collin is a versatile runner, holding the school record in the 2,000 meter steeplechase and is on “Hall of Fame” lists for a few different track and field events.

Collin has devoted a lot of his time attaining his potential both as an honor student and a multi-sport athlete at Marshall County High School and will be a big part of the track and field program this spring as they make another run at a 1st Region Championship.

Following his signing, Collin said he is relieved to have made the decision on where he is going and likes the small-school atmosphere at Lipscomb and plans to major in Business.

“It’s a close-knit team and the coaches do a great job there”, Collin said.
