Henry Bert Smith, Jr., age 92 of Benton, KY, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2015, at Lake Way Nursing & Rehabilitation in Benton, KY.
Born Wednesday, February 21, 1923 in Benton, KY, he was retired from the Marshall County Road Department where he was an Assistant Road Engineer. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.
Surviving are sons, Garry Smith, wife Kathy of Benton, KY and Jerry Don Smith, wife Shelia of Almo, KY, two grandchildren, Marcus Wayne Smith of Benton, KY and Mallory Kristen Fagan, husband Ryan of Chicago, IL. One brother, Clovis Smith of Benton, KY also survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Henry Bert Smith, Sr. and the late Nellie (Kelly) Smith.
He was the husband of the late Mary Jo (Wood) Smith. Also preceding in death are his brothers, Buren Smith, Rollie A. Smith, Sherman Smith, sisters, Ester Fisk, Lois Thompson and Hontus McGregor.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 10, 2015 in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY. Bro. Jason Sharp and Bro. Brett Miles will officiate. Interment will follow the service in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Benton, KY. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at the Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th St., Benton, KY 42025.
