Mrs. Bernice E. Harris, age 88, of Benton, KY passed away Friday, June 5, 2015, at Lake Way Nursing and Rehabilitation in Benton, KY. Born Saturday, September 4, 1926 in Smithland, KY, she was the daughter of the late Elbert Marshall and Claudia (Brasher) Marshall. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church and attended Church Grove United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Harris is survived by her daughter, Beverly Kay Sirls of Benton, KY, two grandchildren, Lisa Henson and husband Tony of Benton, KY and Mike Sirls and his wife Cindy of Murray, KY, three great-grandchildren, Lake Henson and Kinsey Henson of Benton, KY and Lance Sirls of Lakeland, FL; six nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Willie Martin, by her second husband Joe W. Harris; sisters, Mattie Kypreos, Ernestine Crotchett, Josephine Thurby, Wilma Becker and Betty Walker and two infant sisters.
Funeral services will be held Sunday June 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY. Joann Fay officiating. Burial will follow in Smithland Cemetery, Smithland, KY. Visitation will be held between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on Sunday June 7, 2015 at Collier Funeral Home, 211 W. 5th Street, Benton, KY 42025.
