Marshall County Emergency Management Director resigns, comments vague as investigation continues

Murphy, who had been with the county since 2014, had been recently honored for his efforts in helping to free a family from an overturned vehicle during winter weather

BENTON – Marshall County Emergency Management Director Frank Murphy tendered his resignation on Monday leaving a trail of questions as to why he is parting company with the county.

In a statement from Marshall County Judge-Executive Chyrill Miller she asks the community to “not jump to conclusions” saying this is still an open investigation. Judge Miller said, “Murphy was a conscientious employee who was respected by all those who worked with him.”

Benton Police Chief Tracy Watwood confirms his agency is handling the investigation. Judge Miller says under the advice of legal counsel, she is declining further comment at this time and says a detailed release will be issued at the close of the investigation.
