CALVERT CITY – A wanted Grand Rivers man and Calvert City woman have been arrested following a traffic stop in a school zone near North Marshall Middle School. According to police reports, Marshall County Sheriff Kevin Byars observed a vehicle speeding in the school zone on KY 95 on Wednesday, initiating a traffic stop.
Further investigation revealed the passenger was wanted on a bench warrant. Deputy Steven Oakley responded to assist and after further investigation, 40 year-old Monte D. Clark was taken into custody.
The bench warrant stems from charges which occurred in March where Clark was arrested for drug possession after nearly causing a head-on collision on US Highway 68.
At the time, detectives discovered Clark was apparently under the influence of some type of drug and found several syringes, digital scales, bath salts, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during the traffic stop.
He was originally charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs 1st offense, possession of controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense-meth, possession of synthetic drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Marshall County Jail and failed to appear in court when scheduled.
As a result of the continued investigation and the evidence found this week, the driver, Autumn L. Clark age 40 of Calvert City, was also charged with Speeding 17 mph over in a school zone, Failure to produce insurance card, Failure of owner to maintain required insurance 1st offense, improper registration plates, failure to register transfer of a motor vehicle, failure to notify the department of transportation of an address change, Possession of controlled substance 1st degree – methamphetamine, Drug paraphernalia – buy / possess, and Possession of controlled substance 1st degree – drug unspecified.
Both were lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
