HOPKINSVILLE – A small contingent of Marshall County track team members competed in last Saturday’s Hopkinsville Invitational at the Stadium of Champions and still managed to pull off a 5th place finish for the girls and 7th for the boys in the 12 team meet with the teams from Ft. Campbell taking first overall.

Changing things up a little, several Marshall track athletes tried some new events, many performing quite well. Nathan Solomon tried out the long jump and it’s safe to say he will remain in that event with his 3rd place jump of 19’7″. Collin Gunn, one of the Marshals out-standing distance runners tried his hand at sprints, while middle distance runner, Robert Blankenship crossed in 4th place in the 3200 meters and Rachel Prange, and Brandy Baas took on the shot put and discus field events.

Two first place finishes were recorded by Emily Colley in the discus and Collin Gunn in the 800 meters.
This weekend the girls will compete on Friday and Saturday  in Rockwood, MO, at the Lady Lancer invitational while the boys will head to the Border Challenge in Evansville, IN.
