Marshall County Health Department to host community-wide baby shower

showerBENTON – The Marshall County Health Department, in partnership with WellCare, one of the leading providers of health insurance to children and pregnant women in Kentucky, will be hosting a Community Baby Shower on Thursday, February 12, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at the new health department building on Slickback Road.

Twenty Marshall County students make UK Dean's List

ukLEXINGTON - For the first time, more than 6,000 students have made the University of Kentucky Dean's List. UK has released its Dean's List for the Fall 2014 semester. A record high 6,366 students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance including 20 from Marshall County.

Marshall County Library hosts Frozen event

frozen1CALVERT CITY – Disney may have released their mega-hit movie Frozen well over a year ago, but local kids are not quite ready to let it go as the Marshall County Public Library @Calvert City found out on Saturday, January 17. Approximately 300 patrons crowded into the library to meet Anna and Elsa and enjoy some Frozen-inspired games, crafts, and treats.

R Coleman Riley SrIn the back of a sturdy covered wagon, four-year-old R. Coleman Riley came to Marshall County in 1895 with his twelve brothers and sisters. Making Marshall County his life-long home, he was self-taught and independent. Marrying Miss Mattie Lou Barnes in 1934, he became the local business owner of a dry-goods store. This strong work ethic and value system led Mr. Riley to choose membership in the Marshall County Republican Party, because the GOP represented the values he and his family held dear.
