Marshall County Health Department welcomes new Public Health Director

HAMMONSBENTON - Laura Hawes-Hammons joins the Marshall County Health Department as the new Public Health Director on October 13.  A Western Kentucky native, Ms. Hawes-Hammons was born in Owensboro and most recently served as the Assistant Director at the Christian County Health Department.

Marshall County Rescue Squad enhances diving capabilities with voice communications equipment

pratt1BENTON - Prior to obtaining new communications equipment, diver Kenny Pratt with the Marshall County Rescue Squad depended on the use of hand and line signals to communicate during underwater deployments. While considered to be a viable communication option for divers, voice communications allow for a greater level of safety and enhanced opportunity to submit critical information during diving missions.

Firefighters battle barn fire overnight on Sharpe School Rd.

fire2SHARPE - An overnight fire has destroyed a barn at a local residence on Sharpe School Rd. Firefighters from the Possum Trot- Sharpe and Palma Briensburg Fire Departments were called to the scene just after 9 p.m. last night where they arrived to find the barn fully engulfed.
