Seperate vehicular collisions claim the lives of two local residents in 24-hour period

fatalcrashMARSHALL COUNTY - Two fatalities occurred within a 24-hour period in Marshall County, the first of which occurred at approximately 4:08 p.m. Thursday on KY 1422. According to the report filed by Marshall County Deputy Cory Curtner, a motorcycle operated by Glenn T. Thorn, 66, of Benton failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway.

Marshall County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant graduates Criminalistics Academy

mattBENTON - Marshall County Detective Lieutenant Matt Hilbrecht recently graduated from the Kentucky Criminalistics Academy, Crime Scene Technician Course, a 10-week program designed to train investigators in collection and processing of crime scene evidence.
Hilbrecht has worked at the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office since 1999 and has worked in investigations for eight years, having supervised the Detective Division for several years - first as Detective Sergeant and later as Detective Lieutenant.

Westlake Chemical, a global petrochemical and building products manufacturer and supplier, has spent in excess of $300 million on the project.

Calvert City Police Report - October 27

calvertJanet Uselton, 54, of 787 Oak Park Boulevard, Calvert City was arrested on October 23, 2014 by Officer Brian Coleman for alcohol intoxication in a public place, resisting arrest, assault 4th degree (domestic violence) minor injury, and assault 3rd degree - police officer.

Dillon K. Walters, 21, of 181 Windsor Drive, Calvert City was arrested on October 25, 2014 by Officer Wes Babcock on a Marshall County warrant for tampering with physical evidence.

Anderson files to run as write-in candidate in upcoming general election

andersonMARSHALL COUNTY - In a press release received this evening, Commissioner Terry Anderson is reporting that he has filed to run as a write-in candidate for the upcoming general election. Anderson served for two terms but lost the primary to Democrat challenger Johny Bowlin in the primary. Anderson states the low voter turnout and inability of many supporters to vote in the closed primary led him to file in November.
