Ray and Young end their freshman collegiate seasons with deep tournament runs

ray-youngFormer Lady Marshal stand-out softball players, Mallory Young and Breanne "Buzz" Ray just completed their freshman seasons of D-1 collegiate softball.
Mallory and the Murray State softball team made a run in the OVC Tournament, all the way to the title game after wins over Eastern Kentucky 7-6 and Jacksonville State 5-4, before falling 12-1 to SIU-Edwardsville in the OVC Tournament title game.

brianagibbsDRAFFENVILLE - Marshall County Lady Marshals pitcher Briana Gibbs will continue her softball career at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Ky., signing her letter of intent Wednesday at Marshall County High School.


Lady Marshals season ends in 1st Region semi-final loss to Graves County

lexeemiller1MURRAY - Marshall County and Graves County split games during the regular season but on Tuesday in the 1st Region semi-finals, the Lady Eagles (25-11) came out on the winning end in their third meeting beating the Lady Marshals 3-1 to move on to the championship game tonight at 6:00 against McCracken County (34-5) who beat Ballard Memorial 15-0.

Fehrenbacher pitches no-hitter, Marshals advance to play McCracken

tonifehrenbacher2MURRAY - Lexee Miller led off with a double that got things rolling for the Lady Marshals in their 1st Region Tournament opening round game against Paducah Tilghman. Hailey Trexler walked, with both base runners advancing on a wild pitch with Abby Fiessinger at bat, who singled to score Miller. Trexler and Fiessinger would both score for an early 3-0 Lady Marshals lead.


Lady Marshals claim 4th District title with 10-4 win over Calloway

tonifehrenbacher1DRAFFENVILLE - Trailing Murray 2-1 in the 7th inning in the 4th District semi-final game Monday, Calloway County rallied in their final at-bat to pull off a 3-2 walk-off win and advance to play the next game against the Lady Marshals for the 4th District title.

Lady Marshals battle for senior night win against #5 Madisonville North Hopkins

softballseniorsDRAFFENVILLE - Battling into extra innings, trying to pull off a come-from-behind senior night win, the Lady Marshals fell just short in their 7-6 loss to #5 Madisonville North Hopkins.
Madisonville was led by Kaylee Tow and Heather Webb who got things going for the Lady Maroons in the 1st inning when Tow reached on a double then brought home by Webb for a 1-0 lead that was cancelled out by the Lady Marshals with a run scored by Lexee Miller, who reached on a walk, advancing and scoring when Hailey Trexler reached on an error and Abby Fiessinger doubled. A ground out by Chaney Stearns was enough to get Trexler home for the go-ahead run.
