MURRAY - It was a 1st Region Championship classic; a match-up of a winning tradition-rich program from Marshall County and innaugural season of newly consolidated McCracken County. Half of the CFSB Center was maroon and the other half orange as the two teams tipped off in the championship game Tuesday night with student sections ready to battle for cheering supremacy.
MURRAY - Michaela Manley, who led the Lady Marshals with 19 points, earning a spot on the 1st Region All-Tournament Team and named the Joey Fosko Most Valuable Player of the tournament, attributed her teammates with her stand-out performance.
"I wouldn't be out here without my teammates", Manley said. "They are the best players and I love all of them to death and we just wanted to win".
MURRAY - Marshall County and Murray High girls will face each other for the third straight year in the Region 1 Championship game with a trip to WKU's Diddle Arena on the line.
MURRAY - Taking the court Saturday following a week long delay, the Region 1 boy's quarterfinal games began with the Marshals tipping off in the final game of the evening at 7:45 against St. Mary following three games earlier that saw McCracken County beating Calloway County 55-48, Graves County over Carlisle County 57-37 and Mayfield advancing with their 55-48 win over Hickman County.
