Cairo pulls ahead in the fourth to beat Marshals by nine

austinrentfrow4DRAFFENVILLE - Four of the eight ties in the Marshals game against Cairo, IL came in the first quarter with the Marshals taking the lead at 10-8 and hanging on to it until 1:40 left in the third quarter when Cairo went up 45-44 on a free throw.
Cairo went on to out-score the Marshals 25-16 in the very physical fourth quarter, when Cairo stretched their lead out to 12 at one point in their 69-60 win.


Lady Marshals capitalize on Cairo turnovers in 73-53 win

alyssabarnard3DRAFFENVILLE - Alyssa Barnard was coming off 24 hours of an emotional rollar coaster with dad, Marshall head football coach Ron Barnard, airlifted to an Evansville hospital Friday afternoon following a serious accident. With dad doing great, Barnard made the trip back to Draffenville to help the Lady Marshals take on Cairo, IL in their second game of the Gunner's Magic Train Classic and in the process led the team with 20 points and 7 rebounds in their 73-53 win over the Lady Pilots.


Marshals get thrilling overtime win over McCracken in Gunner's Magic Train Classic

masonwooten2DRAFFENVILLE - Fourteen lead changes, eight ties and four players fouling out gives you a sense of what the Marshall County-McCracken County battle between the two schools, quickly becoming a great rivalry, became last night in the Marshals thrilling 57-53 overtime win.


Playing with heavy hearts, Lady Marshals sail to 27 point win

tonifehrenbacher2DRAFFENVILLE - Rallying behind fellow player Alyssa Barnard who missed Friday's game against McCracken County due to her dad, Marshall head football coach Ron Barnard's serious car accident, the Lady Marshals cruised to a 54-27 win over the Lady Mustangs in the Gunner's Magic Train Classic.
The games Friday took on two meanings for the Lady Marshals and Marshals, remembering the life of Gunner Gillespie and support of pediatric cancers as well as remembering Coach Barnard and his family with a moment of silence.


Gunner's Magic Train rolls into Reed Conder Gymnasium

gunnersmagictrainDRAFFENVILLE - Marshall County basketball will host the 5th Annual Gunner's Magic Train Classic honoring the life of Gunner "G-man" Gillespie with proceeds benefiting the Gunner's Magic Train Foundation in the fight to cure Pediatric Cancer.


Lady Marshals lose in double overtime to Martin Westview, pick up 16th win over Hopkinsville

michaelamanley1DRAFFENVILLE - Four Lady Marshals were in double-figures in their double-overtime loss to Martin Westview at Reed Conder Gymnasium Monday. Trailing Martin Westview 27-22 at hafltime, the two teams battled to a 54-54 tie at the final buzzer in regulation going on to the first overtime period where each team put five points on the board sending the game into its second overtime.
