DRAFFENVILLE - Marshall County High School has announced the 2014 Basketball Homecoming Court. Homecoming takes place on Friday, January 31, when the Lady Marshals and Marshals take on Paducah Tilghman.
DRAFFENVILLE - Four of the eight ties in the Marshals game against Cairo, IL came in the first quarter with the Marshals taking the lead at 10-8 and hanging on to it until 1:40 left in the third quarter when Cairo went up 45-44 on a free throw.
Cairo went on to out-score the Marshals 25-16 in the very physical fourth quarter, when Cairo stretched their lead out to 12 at one point in their 69-60 win.
DRAFFENVILLE - Alyssa Barnard was coming off 24 hours of an emotional rollar coaster with dad, Marshall head football coach Ron Barnard, airlifted to an Evansville hospital Friday afternoon following a serious accident. With dad doing great, Barnard made the trip back to Draffenville to help the Lady Marshals take on Cairo, IL in their second game of the Gunner's Magic Train Classic and in the process led the team with 20 points and 7 rebounds in their 73-53 win over the Lady Pilots.
DRAFFENVILLE - Fourteen lead changes, eight ties and four players fouling out gives you a sense of what the Marshall County-McCracken County battle between the two schools, quickly becoming a great rivalry, became last night in the Marshals thrilling 57-53 overtime win.
DRAFFENVILLE - Rallying behind fellow player Alyssa Barnard who missed Friday's game against McCracken County due to her dad, Marshall head football coach Ron Barnard's serious car accident, the Lady Marshals cruised to a 54-27 win over the Lady Mustangs in the Gunner's Magic Train Classic.
The games Friday took on two meanings for the Lady Marshals and Marshals, remembering the life of Gunner Gillespie and support of pediatric cancers as well as remembering Coach Barnard and his family with a moment of silence.
