Fehrenbacher and Spicer, 2014 Homecoming royalty

homecomingqueen&kingDRAFFENVILLE - Marshall County High School celebrated Basketball Homecoming 2014 Friday kicking off the evening with the crowning of the Queen and King.
Senior candidates for Homecoming Queen and King were Charlystyn Beard, daughter of Allen and Tiffany Beard escorted by Nolan Nichols, son of Donna Nichols and Monty Nichols.

Marshals hold on for win after Lyon County's fourth quarter surge

landontaylor2EDDYVILLE - Marshall County held their largest lead of the game early in the fourth quarter at 40-23, but Lyon County wasn't ready to give up battling back to within five points of the Marshals at 45-40 with a minute left in the game but the Marshals held on to a 49-42 win in Eddyville Tuesday night.


North Marshals boys win 4th straight district title

nmms8thdistrictchampsBENTON - North Marshall Middle School's 8th grade boy's basketball team won the district tournament last week with a 42-31 win over Calloway County. This marks the fourth straight year the NMMS team has won the district championship. The first three under head coach Blake Cary and this season under new head coach Eli Lathram. Leading scorers in the win for North were Aaron Reed with 24 and Conner Riley with 13. Pictured above is the team, coaches and cheerleaders following the win.

2014 MCHS Basketball Homecoming Court, coronation before games on Friday

basketballhomecomingcourtDRAFFENVILLE - Marshall County High School has announced the 2014 Basketball Homecoming Court. Homecoming takes place on Friday, January 31, when the Lady Marshals and Marshals take on Paducah Tilghman.


Cairo pulls ahead in the fourth to beat Marshals by nine

austinrentfrow4DRAFFENVILLE - Four of the eight ties in the Marshals game against Cairo, IL came in the first quarter with the Marshals taking the lead at 10-8 and hanging on to it until 1:40 left in the third quarter when Cairo went up 45-44 on a free throw.
Cairo went on to out-score the Marshals 25-16 in the very physical fourth quarter, when Cairo stretched their lead out to 12 at one point in their 69-60 win.


Lady Marshals capitalize on Cairo turnovers in 73-53 win

alyssabarnard3DRAFFENVILLE - Alyssa Barnard was coming off 24 hours of an emotional rollar coaster with dad, Marshall head football coach Ron Barnard, airlifted to an Evansville hospital Friday afternoon following a serious accident. With dad doing great, Barnard made the trip back to Draffenville to help the Lady Marshals take on Cairo, IL in their second game of the Gunner's Magic Train Classic and in the process led the team with 20 points and 7 rebounds in their 73-53 win over the Lady Pilots.
