CFS records third win of the season over Carroll Academy

matthewflemingDRAFFENVILLE - Christian Fellowship picked up their third win of the season Friday against Carroll Academy 66-38 led by Isaac Phillips with 22 points and 19 rebounds. Also scoring for the Eagles in the win was J.R. Ward 15, Jordan Choate 10, Elijah Toth 6, Brice Etheridge 6, Matthew Fleming 4 and Jordan Vaughn 3.

Despite free throw woes, Marshals defeat Tilghman 65-63 in overtime

masonwooten1PADUCAH - Down by three going into the fourth quarter, the Marshals made it hard on themselves hitting just six of 14 free throws but managed to stay in it tied 55-55 at the end of regulation, going on to out-score Tilghman 10-8 in overtime for the win.
After losing by 36 to the Blue Tornados in their December Christmas tournament, the Marshals have won both regular season games by 11 on January 13th at home and Friday's overtime win at Tilghman. Each game has been without the services of one of their leading scorers, Mason Wooten was out in the January 13th game and Collin Travis was out Friday with an injury.


Fourth quarter rally not enough to lift Lady Marshals over Tilghman

michaelamanley1PADUCAH - Trailing by 13 points at the start of the fourth quarter, the Lady Marshals went on a 13-4 run to cut Tilghman's lead to four with 1:56 left in the game. Forced to foul in the closing minute, Tilghman made 9 of 10 at the free throw line to close the game out with a 45-39 win and extend their record to 20-2.


Lady Marshals upset by Christian County 48-41

melissaross4DRAFFENVILLE - A frustrated Lady Marshals Head Coach Joseph Simmons was unhappy with the decisions the girls were making on the floor and felt his players weren't giving their best effort, in post-game comments to WCBL's Jeff Waters, following Christian County's upset of the Lady Marshals.


Marshals back above 500 with win over Lyon County

laneroberts2DRAFFENVILLE - Lane Roberts had a big first half for the Marshals scoring 16 of his 20 points in the game to help lead the Marshals to a 67-50 win over Lyon County Tuesday at Reed Conder Gymnasium.
The Marshals trailed twice in the first quarter, each lead by Lyon County coming off baskets from Jericho Wilkerson, the Lyons leading scoring averaging 22 points per game.

Benton Middle 8th grade girls capture district title

bentonmiddlegirlsBENTON - Benton Middle's 8th grade girl's basketball team won the district championship last week 31-24 over Murray Middle in the tournament played at North Marshall Middle.
The team is coached by Keith Bell and assistant Laurice Mitchell.
