MT. STERLING- Going into the Gateway Holiday Tournament at Montgomery County High School, the Marshals were ranked 6th in the state according the Maxpreps weekly rankings. The Marshals went up against three formidable opponents and were handed their first loss of the season on Thursday after their 10-0 start by tournament host Montgomery County, amid some questionable calls by the referees who presented Coach Gus Gillespie with a technical just seconds into the game.

MT. STERLING- Marshall County's boys and girls teams played in the Gateway Holiday Tournament at Montgomery County High School in Mt. Sterling, KY, December 28-30. The Lady Marshals came out of the tournament with one win and two losses but the competition was top notch and the losses very competitive.

MADISONVILLE- Marshall County boys have added one more Christmas Tournament championship to their record after their win at the Madisonville-North Hopkins Hancock Bank/Brand 40 Classic tournament Friday, extending their streak to five straight.

DRAFFENVILLE- Marshall County hosted the Marshall County Christmas Tournament December 19-21 with three full days of basketball games. As host, the Lady Marshals showed no mercy for their guests, winning all four of their games in the tournament.

North Marshall Middle School hosted their annual Christmas Tournament December 15-17. North Marshall 8th grade boys were champions in the boys bracket with a 51-48 win over Benton Middle School, while the Murray Middle school 8th grade girls team won the girls bracket with a 34-25 win over Benton Middle School.

MURRAY- Murray State's men's basketball team has tied the second longest winning streak to start a season in school history at 12-0. They are tied with the teams from 1935-1936 and 1950-1951 that were coached by Carlisle Cutchin and Harlan Hodges. The 1935-1936 team holds the all time mark of 16-0.
