New Branding Initiative taking off, Chamber of Commerce follows suit in name change

Project1BENTON - The Marshall County Chamber of Commerce has officially followed suit in the new branding initiative, changing their name to the Kentucky Lake Chamber of Commerce in Marshall County.

This is the third local organization, including the offices of Tourism and Economic Development, to make the switch since branding survey results came back a few months ago.

Red Cross Open House and Building Dedication ceremony set for October 10th

paint1BENTON - After several months of hard work, the old Benton Gas maintenance building has been repurposed as the new home of the Lakeland Area Red Cross Chapter. Red Cross Director Darlene Lynn has spent hours on end working to revamp the building, adding a fresh coat of paint and a touch of life to the building that has been out of use for some time.

Baptist Healthcare announces new outpatient, ambulatory center coming to Calvert City

bapCALVERT CITY - Baptist Health of Paducah announced plans on Tuesday to open a new outpatient health and wellness center in Calvert City. According to a release on the announcement, Baptist Health purchased 9.87 acres in Calvert City at Exit 27 off I-24/I-69, planning to build a comprehensive ambulatory center while beginning to offer services in a smaller facility later this fall at 4754 U.S. Hwy. 62.

State's Childcare Assistance Program once again open to new applicants after budget shortfalls limited access

childcare-620x400MARSHALL COUNTY – Nearly 300 Marshall County children received daycare subsidies in 2012 according to statistics from Kentucky Youth Advocates. However, in 2013, the state's Childcare Assistance Program, CCAP, was closed to new participants and the Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) was forced to lower the income eligibility for recipients from 150 percent to 100 percent Federal Poverty Level (FPL) as a result of an $86.6 million shortfall in the fiscal year 14 budget of DCBS.
