DRAFFENVILLE - Track and Field has a whole new set of athletes taking the field thanks to the Special Olympics sporting program that is taking off and expanding around the region.

GILBERTSVILLE - UPDATE: New Polar Plunge 2013 total is $98,000. Polar Plunge organizers set this year's goal at $90,000 which was surpassed as of early figures on Sunday with 2013 Polar Plunge funds raised at $91,000 and organizers feel that it's possible they may pull close to last year's record-breaking $95,000 when the final number is in.

BOWLING GREEN - There's a new champion in town and it's the Marshall 2 Special Olympics basketball team who won the Region Championship Saturday at Bowling Green's Parks and Recreational Complex.

DRAFFENVILLE - Special Olympics basketball teams from all over Western Kentucky converged on Marshall County's Reed Conder Gymnasium Saturday for the 1st Annual Winter Blast basketball tournament.

Marshall County will host the 1st Annual Special Olympics Winter Blast Basketball Tournament Saturday with games in Reed Conder Gymnasium and the Auxiliary Gym. Marshall County has two teams that will be competing with teams coming from Murray, Christian County, McCracken County, Muhlenburg County and Barren County.

The Marshall County Special Olympics Basketball teams would like to announce their 2012-2013 schedule of games and tournaments.

December 15th - Christian County at South Marshall Middle School, games at 3:00 and 4:00
December 22nd - Marshall County SOKY "HOLIDAY CLASSIC" at MCHS - Marshall 1 game at 9:30, Marshall 2 game at 10:30
