Local Disc Golf club hosts international event at Miller Park

discgolf2DRAFFENVILLE - Disc golf is a growing sport that has players from a diverse background. If you are not familiar with disc golf, it is similar to ball golf. The goal is to throw discs, comparable to a Frisbee, towards a target, instead of a hole it is a large metal basket with chains to catch the discs.

Meet the Marshals kicks off 2014 fall sports season

meetmarshals1DRAFFENVILLE - Fall sports held the annual Meet the Marshals Friday in Reed Conder Gymnasium. The MCHS Cheerleaders kicked off the event with their introductions followed by a performance.

Hoffman ends Mevert's win streak with Modified feature win

nickhoffmanCALVERT CITY, Ky. – Nick Hoffman put an end to Matt Mevert's three-race streak of domination in high-paying Modified features at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway Saturday night, leading from start to finish in the 35-lap main event and claiming the $4,000 first-place prize money.
Other winners on the night's program included Randy Sellars in Late Model, Tait Davenport in Pro (Crate) Late Model and Mike Hodges in Stock Car.

fallsportspicReady or not...fall sports season is here! Thursday evening marked the beginning of the fall sports season at Marshall County High School with the golf team playing a scrimmage match at Murray Country Club and the Marshals soccer team taking the field at the high school in a scrimmage against Owensboro.
The Lady Marshals soccer team will scrimmage at Greenwood on Monday, followed on Tuesday by the Marshals second scrimmage at Trigg County.


Newman takes Crate special Friday at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway

newmanCALVERT CITY – On a night when late-lap passes were all the rage, Ashley Newman got the biggest reward when he overtook Troy English on the third turn of the final lap and won the $4,000 first-place prize in the 35-lap Pro (Crate) Late Model main event.
Randy Sellars overtook Tim Brown on the next-to-last lap to win the Late Model feature, and Matt Cooper banged his way past Josh Tomlin on the white-flag lap and won the Modified main.

Crate payoff goes to Davenport after Wallace weighs in 10 pounds light

timbrownCALVERT CITY – Dirt late model veteran Wendell Wallace of Batesville, Arkansas, dominated the Pro (Crate) Late Model 35-lap special Saturday night at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway, but his car weighed 10 pounds light in the post-race trip to the scales.
That made local driver Tait Davenport the winner of the $4,000 first-place payoff. It was his fourth victory of the season at KLMS.
