Marshall County High School students qualify for National Weightlifting competition

cfNASHVILLE - Two Marshall County High School Students have qualified for National Competition after performing successfully in the Youth Nationals Weightlifting competitions.
The meet was held at Shake Island CrossFit in Nashville, Tenn. where more than 60 athletes from the tri-state area competed in a snatch and clean jerk lifts, with their final score being a combination of the two.
Each competitor had three attempts at both lifts in the USA Weight Lifting sanctioned meet. Karson Johnson Billie Moore, both 16 years old, qualified for youth nationals. Johnson had a total of 102 kilos, while Moore totaled 94.

“Those two girls are relatively new in the world of weightlifting, but to see the hard work that they have put in all ready begin to pay off for them says a lot about each of them,” Joshua Hendrickson, owner of 270 CrossFit said. Johnson and Moore will now be invited to the 2015 USAW Youth Nationals in Kansas City, OK.

Hall of Fame Inductees in the Class of 2014 encourage student-athletes that hard work pays off

donbockDRAFFENVILLE - As inspirational as the previous five classes, the Marshall County Hall of Fame Class of 2014 Inductees graciously and humbly accepted the honor, each giving credit to their teammates, coaches, families and those that surrounded them as reasons for achieving their athletic excellence.
Marshall County Athletic Director, Jeff Stokes, said of the 2014 class, "This is a special group to me. A lot of the people in this group have touched me in some way over the years", going on to expand on his unique relationship with many of the inductees.
