NASHVILLE - Two Marshall County High School Students have qualified for National Competition after performing successfully in the Youth Nationals Weightlifting competitions.
The meet was held at Shake Island CrossFit in Nashville, Tenn. where more than 60 athletes from the tri-state area competed in a snatch and clean jerk lifts, with their final score being a combination of the two.
Each competitor had three attempts at both lifts in the USA Weight Lifting sanctioned meet. Karson Johnson Billie Moore, both 16 years old, qualified for youth nationals. Johnson had a total of 102 kilos, while Moore totaled 94.
“Those two girls are relatively new in the world of weightlifting, but to see the hard work that they have put in all ready begin to pay off for them says a lot about each of them,” Joshua Hendrickson, owner of 270 CrossFit said. Johnson and Moore will now be invited to the 2015 USAW Youth Nationals in Kansas City, OK.
