Boys first, girls second at Murray High's All-Comers track meet

brandybaasMURRAY - Marshall County boys took first and the girls placed second in the 11 team track meet at Murray High. The boy's first place point total was 111 with McCracken County taking second with 70. The girls scored 101.50 points in the meet to place behind Murray in first with 134.

Track season underway as Marshall County hosts All-Comers meet

robertblankenshipDRAFFENVILLE - Marshall County opened the track season with an All-Comers meet at home Thursday. Coach Cory Westerfield heads up the girl's team and Coach Jared Rosa is at the helm of the boy's team.

Marshall County track athlete, Sydney Goff, signs with Kentucky Wesleyan College

goffBENTON - Sydney Goff, a senior member of the Marshall County Track Team, signed on Thursday to run track for Kentucky Wesleyan College. Kentucky Wesleyan is a Division II NCAA school located in Owensboro, Ky.

Skylar VanMeter signs with University of Louisville track and field

skylarvanmeter1DRAFFENVILLE - Skylar VanMeter signed his letter of intent Friday to join the University of Louisville track program. Skylar, who is also a Governor's Scholar, has received many scholarship offers for athletics as well as academics but said Louisville was always a top choice for him.

Local athlete sets national record in javelin at AAU Junior Olympics

keaginbrooksDES MOINES, IA - On Monday July 28th, Keagin Brooks from Benton, won the AAU Junior Olympics in the javelin setting a national record for 12 year olds with a throw of 109'9". Keagin's throw was a little over 11 inches farther than the 2nd place throw of 98'6" from Rebecca Hampton of Stockton, CA, beating out a field of 42 to win the title.


Field event athletes shine, five top 10 performances for Marshals at state meet

statetrack-russellLEXINGTON - Marshall County's best finishes of the KHSAA State Track and Field Championships came in field events with many other good performances turned in by the contingent of 20 athletes who competed in Lexington Saturday.
