Local athlete sets national record in javelin at AAU Junior Olympics

keaginbrooksDES MOINES, IA - On Monday July 28th, Keagin Brooks from Benton, won the AAU Junior Olympics in the javelin setting a national record for 12 year olds with a throw of 109'9". Keagin's throw was a little over 11 inches farther than the 2nd place throw of 98'6" from Rebecca Hampton of Stockton, CA, beating out a field of 42 to win the title.


Field event athletes shine, five top 10 performances for Marshals at state meet

statetrack-russellLEXINGTON - Marshall County's best finishes of the KHSAA State Track and Field Championships came in field events with many other good performances turned in by the contingent of 20 athletes who competed in Lexington Saturday.


Twenty Marshall County track and field athletes to compete in Saturday's state championships

track&fieldDRAFFENVILLE - After all regional track meet results were posted across the state, four more Marshall County Track and Field athletes qualified for the KHSAA State Track and Field Championships bringing the total to 20, with 10 alternates also making the trip to Lexington's University of Kentucky Outdoor Track Complex.

Sixteen Marshall track and field athletes qualify for state, more hoping for at-large bids

regtrack3GREENVILLE - Sixteen Marshall County track and field athletes secured a spot in the KHSAA State Track and Field Championships on Saturday, May 24th at the University of Kentucky with their performances at the Regional Track Meet at Muhlenberg County on Monday. More may qualify at-large once all the regional meets have taken place across the state.

Area 1 Championships final meet before Friday's Regionals

jacobcarnineDRAFFENVILLE - Murray High's girls and boys claimed first place in the Area 1 Championships held at Marshall County High School Friday.
The Lady Marshals continue to be strong in field events with the only first place of the meet for the girls coming from Devan Doss in the pole vault.


Marshall girls, boys both third at Twilight Relays

robertblankenshipDRAFFENVILLE - Relays are the theme of the night at the annual Marshall County Twilight Relays held Friday. This meet changes things up, making it fun for the athletes with relays such as the sprint medley which consists of two 100 meter legs followed by a 200 and 400. The distance medley relay begins with an 800 followed by a 400, 1200 and final leg a 1600. The shuttle hurdle relay has hurdlers heading out from each end of the 100 meter hurdle distance and the shot/discus relay gives those field event athletes a chance to hit the track in a running event.
