Newcomb qualifies for Sunshine Tour; Q & A session with MSU Alumni Association

The Benton-native, MSU alumni and professional golfer is making a name for himself one stroke at a time. Patrick Newcomb, a humble individual yet confident golfer, left the United States for the first time ever to take on some of the world's best golfers in the Sunshine Tour in South Africa. Newcomb placed 14 out of 240 professional golfers at the Sunshine Tour Q School on January 24. This qualified him for the tour.

patricknewcomb2BENTON - Benton native, Patrick Newcomb, will take another step in his journey to success in the pro golf ranks when he leaves January 14th to play in The Sunshine Tour qualifier in South Africa.The Sunshine Tour is primarily based in South Africa with big names coming out of the tour over the years such as Gary Player, Ernie Els and Trevor Immelman to name a few.


Tyree earns second straight Golfweek Junior Tour win in Nashville

baileytyree1NASHVILLE, TN  - Bailey Tyree won a three-way playoff on the third hole to earn her second straight victory in the Girls 15-19 division at Hermitage Country Club.Tyree fired rounds of 75-77—152 to finish regulation tied with Ashni Dhruva and Rachel Heck.

Golf team celebrates season at banquet

golfgirlsCALVERT CITY - On Monday, November 17, the Marshall County golf teams held their annual banquet at the Calvert City Country Club. Senior Cayce Hendrickson and sophomore Quinn Eaton were recognized for their selection to the First Region Golf Team.

Tyree wins Golfweek Junior Tour event in Bowling Green

baileytyreeBOWLING GREEN - Marshall County High School junior, Bailey Tyree, won the Golfweek Jr Tour held this past weekend at Bowling Green Country Club. On Saturday she had the low round with 76 and an 8 stroke lead going into Sunday's round shooting 82 on Sunday, but was able to hold on for the win by 4 strokes over Casey Van Meter of Bowling Green.
