Marshall County football coach Ron Barnard resigns position

ronbarnardDRAFFENVILLE - Marshall County High School head football coach Ron Barnard resigned on Friday, effective immediately. Coach Barnard has been with the Marshall football program for four years, taking over in 2010 after the Marshals finished the 2009 season 1-9.

Three local teams in playoff games Friday

footballsIf you're looking for something to do after Turkey Day and don't want to go anywhere near the mall for Black Friday deals, three great playoff games will be taking place in Western Kentucky Friday. Murray, Mayfield and Paducah Tilghman have all advanced to the semi-finals of the KHSAA Gridiron Bowl state playoffs and will all play on their home fields.
Mayfield will play Frankfort at 6:30 in the Class 1A semis, Murray will host DeSales at 7:30 in Class 2A and Paducah Tilghman plays Wayne County at 7:00 in Class 3A.

Marshals fall to Meade County in first round of 6A playoffs

footballcollageBRANDENBURG - A tough 2013 Marshall football season came to a close Friday in Brandenburg, Ky. with a 47-13 loss to Meade County in the first round of the Class 6A Russell Athletic/KHSAA Commonwealth state playoffs. Meade County came into Friday's game with just two losses and will play Henderson County next Friday in the round of 16 at Meade County.

Marshals fall to Graves in final game, playoff at Meade County Friday
