E-mail Print PDF
paint2013BENTON - For the past six years, members of the Benton Woman's Club, Marshall County Health Department, Marshall County Hospital, and Kentucky Pink Connection have partnered to sponsor the Paint the Town Pink fundraising 5K walk raising lifesaving funds and awareness for breast cancer research.
This year's sixth annual event has been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26, on the court square in Benton.
The event honors those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. Organizers ask attendees to wear pink to "help celebrate the courageous women who have battled this disease."
The 5K begins at 8 a.m. Guest speaker and breast cancer survivor Barbie Parr will speak at 9 a.m. where other breast cancer survivors and those battling the disease will be recognized.
The event's one-mile walk will then start from the Court Square, where the route extends to 5th street and back. The Marshall County Health Department, the Marshall County Hospital, Puckett's Jewelry, 270 CrossFit and Benton Dairy Queen will be some of the local businesses represented.
The Benton Woman's Club was founded in 1910 and entered into The Kentucky Federation of Women's Clubs in 1914. The Benton's Woman's Club is a non-profit, civic organization, which raises money for various charitable outlets and provides scholarships for deserving young women in our community. The Club meets once a month at the Benton Public Library and is always seeking new members.
