MAYFIELD - North Marshall's road to a Regional Tournament victory was cut short Thursday night following a loss to Paducah Tilghman in the championship game at Graves County Middle School.
North struggled with turnovers and missed rebounds throughout the game while the two teams battled back and forth in the first quarter with Paducah taking a four point lead in the first three minutes going up 6-2 over North.
North found themselves putting Tilghman in the bonus halfway through the first quarter allowing them to inch the points up on the scoreboard and with a last-second field goal, Tilghman led 12-9 at the end of one.
Dawson Jolley added a field goal to start the second quarter to pull North to within one of Tilghman, which was as close as North would get the remainder of the game as Tilghman sunk a three-pointer in the closing seconds of the half that gave them a 26-17 lead.
Tilghman extended their lead to 12 in the third quarter, due in large part by successful trips to the free throw line, taking a 33-24 third quarter lead.
A timeout by North energized the team but it wasn't enough to stop Tilghman's momentum as they added five more points in the closing four minutes of the game. Forced to foul, North put Tilghman on the free-throw line in the closing minutes which gave them the 49-34 win over North.
